Just so everyone is clear about the shit show that happened at the Grammys last night, the academy had an actual meeting accusing Beyonce of trying to “game” the system by dipping into several genres– such as country, blues and rock– on Lemonade and that is very much the reason they latently disrespected her.
The New York Times reported on this- “According to a senior music executive who attended the meeting, and spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the internal deliberations, there was a “very spirited debate that took maybe five minutes” and included several voters’ suspicions that by recording a rock song and a country song (“Daddy Lessons”) on her album “Lemonade,” Beyoncé was trying to “run the table” on nominations in a diverse group of categories.” (LINK)
The Grammys literally punished Beyonce– a black woman and the greatest entertainer of the past couple decades– for stretching the boundaries on music. Instead of acting with any dignity and commending such an outstanding and genre defying piece of work, they considered it an egregious threat and showed it with last night.
what she means: in the first episode of voltron legendary defender coran says that the castle of lions is 10600 years old and that his grandfather built it. in the fifth episode when coran and hunk go to the balmera coran says his grandfather brought him to a balmera while he was building the castle of lions. coran and allura were in suspended animation for 10000 years. this implies that coran is over 600 years old. from the way he and allura interact in the second season we can conjecture that coran is in late middle age, or maybe early old age. how long is the average altean lifespan? how long is the average galra lifespan? zarkon was displeased but not surprised when his head druid told him allura was alive. exactly how unbelievable is it that they're both alive after 10000 years? is this why allura and coran acted like the paladins could easily free the entire known universe in their lifetimes? do allura and coran know how short human lifespans are? how
here’s what happens when you tell an artist that their design looks like another character design:
-if it’s a character they know, they will feel ashamed and worried that they subconsciously ripped off the design. they will not want to draw that design anymore
-if it’s a character they don’t know, they will become fearful that other people who don’t know them are going to look at their design and think that they ripped it off anyway and they will not want to draw that design anymore
-it’s not a compliment
-it just makes us feel bad
